August 1944 ‘The outskirts of the Caen’
Morale is not high in the British Second Army after the defeated troops of hill 112 finally returned to their camps, leaving the hill in German hands.
After a series of failed attempts to crack the German spirit a huge bombardment of British artillery, naval guns and aerial bombing has pushed the German troops from the city centre to the north and west of the Caen. However this has left the roads blocked by rubble and craters menaing the infantry will not be getting support from their heavy and medium tanks. The town centre has become home to close quarter battle to the last.
Who’s flag will fly over what is left of Caen’s centre by Sunday; and will the Allies be able to look at their foothold in Normandy as anything other than fractured?
